We've been talking about Stress in our Connection Group these past couple of weeks. This morning I found myself chucking (strange word I use for throwing) my anxieties upon Jesus. As I was doing that I was reminded of these two verses in 1 Peter. They are good words for us and I wanted to share them with you.
"Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you." 1 Peter 5:6-7 (NIV)
There is a promise here that if we will humble ourselves (dependence upon and obedience to God) before God that he will give us freedom from our anxieties.
The promise here is great - that he will lift us up and take care of us. So the next time you are feeling overwhelmed with anxieties humble yourself before God and "chuck" those burdens onto the Lord.
I am learning that God is quite capable and even desires to take care of us and our burdens. Let's not be so independent that we quit relying on God - He does know what's best for us better than we know what's best for us.
Happy Chucking!
